Hugh Jackman Takes Aim as Robin Hood in First Look at ‘The Death of Robin Hood’

Hugh Jackman is set to bring a darker edge to the legendary outlaw in the upcoming thriller The Death of Robin Hood, directed and written by Michael Sarnoski. Entertainment Weekly recently released the first look at Jackman in the iconic role, giving fans a glimpse of this gritty reimagining of the classic tale.

The story follows Robin Hood as he faces the consequences of his past life of crime and murder after being critically injured. He finds himself in the hands of a mysterious woman, setting the stage for a tense and suspenseful journey.

Jackman stars as Robin Hood, joined by Jodie Comer, Bill Skarsgård, Murray Bartlett, and Noah Jupe. The film promises a fresh, darker take on the legend while exploring the psychological weight of Robin Hood’s past actions.

The project was first announced in May 2024, revealing that Sarnoski was developing a more intense and somber version of the Robin Hood story with Jackman and Comer attached from the start. U.S. distribution rights were quickly snapped up by A24 during a competitive bidding situation at the Marché du Film. Additional cast members, including Skarsgård, Bartlett, and Jupe, joined the lineup in February.

Principal photography took place in Northern Ireland, beginning in early February and wrapping by late March. Sources confirmed the production remained on schedule throughout the shoot.

This first look released by Entertainment Weekly has already sparked excitement, showing Jackman in full Robin Hood mode and hinting at the intense, suspenseful tone of the film.

With Sarnoski at the helm and a talented cast on board, The Death of Robin Hood is shaping up to be a bold, darker take on the legendary hero. Fans of the classic story and thriller enthusiasts alike are eagerly waiting to see how this new version unfolds.
