Disney has announced that Hulu will officially replace Star on its international Disney+ service starting October 8.

The new brand will appear alongside Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel, and National Geographic in the UK and across the EMEA region.

This marks Hulu’s first major international expansion. The move comes after Disney purchased Comcast’s stake in the U.S. streamer, giving the company full control of Hulu. Disney said it plans to turn Hulu into a “global general entertainment brand.”

Existing Star content will remain available under Hulu, so subscribers can still watch shows like High Potential, Only Murders in the Building, FX’s Alien: Earth, A Thousand Blows, Rivals, Flintoff, Grey’s Anatomy, and Modern Family. Upcoming Disney+ releases, including All’s Fair, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 3, and A Thousand Blows Season 2, will also appear under the Hulu brand.

In the U.S., the standalone Hulu app is expected to eventually disappear, though it will continue to operate at least through 2026. Hulu content in America is being integrated into Disney+, making it easier for viewers to access all shows and movies in one app.

Disney is also updating Hulu with new design and navigation features ahead of a wider Disney+ redesign planned for next year. The changes come shortly before the October 21 price increases for Disney’s streaming services in the U.S.

This international relaunch is a major step in Disney’s strategy to simplify and unify its streaming services while expanding Hulu’s global presence.
