Hunter Schafer has been treating her ‘Blade Runner 2099’ press tour like a fashion project. The former model, who stars alongside Michelle Yeoh in Prime Video’s upcoming limited series, has been dressing with a clear point of view that seems to echo the retro-futuristic world of the franchise.

It started at San Diego Comic-Con in July, where she wore a head-turning Marc Jacobs Spring 2027 look. The ensemble featured a fuchsia bodysuit under a sheer yellow organza button-up, sheer shorts cinched with a chunky chain belt and bold crimson tights, a combination many fans saw as a nod to the synthetic, translucent fashion of the original 1982 film.

Now, Schafer has delivered another vibrant moment. A new press photo shows the actress posing against a weathered, textured backdrop for ‘Blade Runner 2099’. She wears a strapless bandeau top in teal and black stripes, paired with a vivid red pencil skirt splashed with black brushstroke-style prints. Her long strawberry-blonde hair falls past her shoulders, and she finishes the look with black open-toe heels.

The image fits neatly into her press tour aesthetic. Schafer has stuck to bright, high-contrast color combinations that reflect the supersaturated visuals of the ‘Blade Runner’ films.

The new look arrives during a packed stretch of promotion. Schafer reportedly changed into several outfits over the New York Comic Con weekend, including an archive Jil Sander piece and a Prada look from 2018.

On Saturday, October 10, she joined Yeoh on stage for the series’ NYCC panel. They were accompanied by co-stars Dimitri Abold, Lewis Gribben and Matthew Needham, showrunner Silka Luisa and executive producers Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson.

Prime Video unveiled a new trailer and key art for the series, and attendees also got to see 4 never-before-seen clips. During the panel, the cast spoke with admiration about Ridley Scott’s ‘Blade Runner’ and Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Blade Runner 2049’, with Schafer crediting the franchise with changing sci-fi as a genre.

Prime Video also hosted a free ‘Blade Runner 2099’ fan experience at the Meatpacking Collective in Manhattan that same day. Visitors were invited to step into the world of the series and test whether they had what it takes to become a Blade Runner.

Set 50 years after ‘Blade Runner 2049’, the series imagines a Los Angeles where replicants are now in power and humanity is no longer in control. Schafer plays Cora, a human fugitive who goes undercover as a Blade Runner with the LAPD.

She is forced to partner with Yeoh’s Olwen, a replicant Blade Runner grappling with her own mortality. Together, they hunt down a runaway hiding a truth that could collapse their fragile city.

Yeoh has spoken warmly about working with Schafer. At a press conference at the Busan International Film Festival ahead of NYCC, she described the project as an amazing journey and said it was a joy to work with such a talented co-star.

‘Blade Runner 2099’ is an 8-episode limited series developed by Luisa, with Scott serving as an executive producer. All episodes premiere on November 25 exclusively on Prime Video.

With the release still more than a month away, Schafer’s press tour is just getting started. If her fashion so far is any indication, fans can expect plenty more color-soaked, futuristic looks in the weeks ahead.
