Idris Elba’s Wax Figure Looks So Real It Fooled His Own Phone
Idris Elba was left amazed by his own wax figure at Madame Tussauds London, which looked so real it even fooled his phone. The figure was unveiled on December 19, and perfectly captures the actor’s likeness in incredible detail.
The Luther and The Wire star couldn’t believe what he saw when he tried using Face ID on his phone with the wax figure. “Haha, look at this guy,” Elba said in a video posted by the museum, clearly impressed. “I don’t know what to say, I’m speechless.”
Elba even called his mother, Eve Elba, and used the wax figure to unlock his phone. To everyone’s surprise, it worked. His mother was just as amazed, exclaiming, “Oh my god!” when she saw it.

The wax figure shows Elba in the sharp suit he wore to meet King Charles, and the museum says the statue was designed to capture every detail of the actor’s appearance. Elba shared his thoughts in a statement, praising the artists who created the figure. “It’s truly an honor to be recognized in this way and even more special to know this other version of me will be standing tall in London,” he said. “So, even when I’m away, a part of me is always at home.”
He also compared the process to preparing for a movie role. “The process has been fascinating. It’s not dissimilar to prepping for a movie role—working with talented artists to flesh out the character, getting the costume just right, but this time it’s for me,” he added.
Idris Elba’s wax figure is now on display at Madame Tussauds, giving fans a chance to see just how lifelike it really is.
