‘In the Grey’ Star Eiza González Brings Old Hollywood Elegance to the Academy Museum Gala in a Flowing Ivory Gown
Eiza González has quietly built one of Hollywood’s most reliable red carpet résumés, and the Academy Museum Gala has long been one of her favorite stages. Back in 2022, she attended the event in an orange sequined LaQuan Smith dress paired with a dazzling Bulgari diamond bib.
Her style has only grown more polished since then. At the 2026 SAG Awards, she wore a striped Armani Privé gown with a deep red lip and David Yurman jewels, while her Vanity Fair Oscar party look was a silver Miu Miu dress with elegant embroidery.
This year’s gala gave her an even bigger spotlight. Dubbed the “Met Gala of the West,” the event raises funds for the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, supporting its exhibitions, public screenings and educational initiatives.
The sixth annual edition, held on October 17 in Los Angeles, honored Charlize Theron with the Icon Award, Colman Domingo with the Vantage Award and John Carpenter with the Luminary Award. Presented by Rolex, it was co-chaired by Robert Rodriguez, Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw, with Taylor Swift set to perform.

Among the night’s standout arrivals was González herself. Outlets shared videos and photos of the actress taking the carpet. She wore Ralph Lauren for the occasion, choosing a sleek ivory satin gown with a halter neckline and an open back. A sheer, flowing cape trailed from her shoulders, adding a dramatic, ethereal touch as she turned for the cameras.
González kept the rest of the look refined and simple. Her dark hair fell in soft, voluminous waves, finished with understated earrings and a delicate bracelet that let the gown take center stage.
The gala’s October timing, right after Fashion Month, means guests often arrive in looks straight from the runways. W Magazine noted that the evening serves as a first taste of awards-season trends, with houses like Chanel, Dior and Saint Laurent expected to make a strong showing.
González was in starry company. The guest list included Taylor Swift, Kate Hudson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Emily Ratajkowski, Tinashe, Common, Iris Law and many more, while the host committee featured names like Teyana Taylor, Demi Moore, Kirsten Dunst, Greta Lee and Adrien Brody.

Her journey to Hollywood’s biggest events has been a long one. Born in Mexico City in 1990, González first made a name for herself as a teen star in Mexican telenovelas like ‘Floricienta’ and ‘Lola, érase una vez’ before launching her singing career.
She later broke through with English-language audiences in films like ‘Baby Driver’, ‘Bloodshot’ and ‘Ambulance’. That evolution has also made her a fixture at major fashion events, including this year’s Met Gala, where she was among the Latino stars bringing fresh, fashion-forward energy to the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Beyond the glamour, the evening serves a serious purpose. Last year’s edition, which honored Bruce Springsteen, Penélope Cruz, Bowen Yang and Walter Salles, raised more than $12 million for the museum.
With her timeless ivory look, González once again proved why she’s one of the most dependable style stars on any red carpet. Her elegant choice stood out in a sea of bold fashion statements by leaning into classic Hollywood glamour.
