Indiana Jones 5: First Official Image Revealed
The long-awaited fifth installment of the Indiana Jones franchise is now definitely going to premiere on June 30, 2023, which Disney confirmed today when they released the first official image.
Created by the Star Wars creator George Lucas, with Harrison Ford playing the titular role, the Indiana Jones franchise kicked off in 1981 with the original movie Raiders of the Lost Ark. Two more movies followed in 1984 and 1989, The Temple of Doom and The Last Crusade, respectively. The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the fourth film in the franchise, was released in 2008.
After Disney purchased Lucasfilm in 2012, that gave them control over both Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises. The fifth movie has been in development for several years, delayed a couple of times, but it finally wrapped production last February and now Disney released the first look to start preparing us for the next chapter of this adventure franchise:
“In 2023, Harrison Ford returns as the legendary #IndianaJones. Check out this first look of the new James Mangold-directed film.”
James Mangold, best known as the director of Logan and Ford V Ferrari, is helming this project, and Steven Spielberg, who directed the first four installments is still on board as the producer. Harrison Ford said back in 2008 that he’d do another Indiana Jones if it doesn’t take another 20 years to make. Well, it’s been almost 15 years since the last Indiana Jones movie, but Ford, who is 79 now, is still returning to the role.
Indiana Jones 5 is starring Harrison Ford, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Kretschmann, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Toby Jones, and Antonio Banderas. The movie is set to be released on June 30, 2023.
