Industry Insider Reveals The Extent of Fantastic Four Origin Story We Will See in ‘First Steps’

Fantastic Four: First Steps is easily one of the most exciting upcoming Marvel releases. The film stars Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as the Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing. It will officially introduce Marvel’s First Family into the MCU.

So far, we know the movie is set in a parallel reality—a retro-futuristic version of New York that looks like it’s from the 1960s. Director Matt Shakman has confirmed that the Fantastic Four will already be established superheroes at the start of the film, and they are the only superheroes in their universe.

However, fans have noticed something interesting in the trailers. Some scenes show Ben Grimm (The Thing) before he gains his powers. This strongly suggests that the film will include the team’s origin story, giving viewers a chance to see how they became the Fantastic Four.

Industry insider Alex Perez revealed the details regarding that in his monthly Q&A. Perez said that in First Steps, we will see how the Fantastic Four get their powers. After that, there will be a montage showing them doing heroic things over the years. They are shown as the main superhero team in their universe, actually, the only one in that world.

Filming for the movie was completed back in November 2024, with some brief reshoots taking place earlier this year. Now, the studio is preparing to kick off the marketing campaign as the film approaches its release on July 25, 2025. This movie will serve as the first film and the official beginning of Phase Six of the MCU.
