Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be one of the biggest Marvel crossovers ever, with a stacked cast featuring returning stars from across the multiverse.

Names like Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Paul Rudd, Florence Pugh, Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Pedro Pascal, and even Robert Downey Jr. are all set to appear. This time, Downey Jr. isn’t reprising his role as Iron Man, he’s taking on the villainous mantle of Doctor Doom.

The cast also includes familiar faces from the old X-Men films, including Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Alan Cumming, and Rebecca Romijn. The massive, hours-long livestream announcing these cast members still didn’t reveal everyone, and both Kevin Feige and some insiders hinted that more surprises are still to come.

New behind-the-scenes info about Avengers: Doomsday has just surfaced, and things are starting to get pretty wild. Even though the full plot is still a secret, it looks like the movie will dive deep into multiverse madness, with different realities falling apart and multiple superhero teams showing up, some we’ve already seen in the MCU, and some that haven’t even appeared yet.

According to Daniel Richtman, who shared the scoop on his Patreon, Marvel is currently filming two very different kinds of scenes. One is set in The Void, and the other takes place during a baseball game on what’s known as the Fantastic Four Earth.

Now if you watched Thunderbolts* or kept up with it, you probably remember The Void. It’s a strange and dark “realm” tied to Sentry, aka Bob Reynolds. Basically, it’s a twisted version of reality that reflects his trauma, and let’s just say it’s full of disturbing stuff.

Since Sentry is confirmed to be part of Doomsday, and already plays a big role in Thunderbolts*, as director Jake Schreier said earlier, it totally makes sense for The Void to show up again here.

As for the baseball scene, it takes place on the same Earth where the Fantastic Four exist. Just a heads-up, that’s not the main MCU timeline. It’s a completely different universe. If the rumors are true, this world won’t even make it through the end of the movie. So that baseball game might just be a flashback, maybe something emotional to show what was lost.

One other thing Richtman mentioned is a bit more troubling. Apparently, Marvel still hasn’t figured out how to wrap the movie up. The third act, the big finale, isn’t locked in yet. There’s no clear answer on why, but it wouldn’t be the first time Marvel started shooting before the full script was ready. It’s happened before and caused problems. The exact quote is: “They still dom’t have the third act figured out for Doomsday.”

Trying to balance all these characters, alternate universes, and emotional stakes into one movie is clearly a huge challenge. And it sounds like Marvel is still working hard to get it right.

Avengers: Doomsday doesn’t have all the answers yet, but the pieces are slowly coming together, and they’re already pretty intense.
