‘Interview with the Vampire’ Season 3 Officially Starts Filming: Here’s the Latest Update

The third season of Interview with the Vampire has officially started filming. AMC confirmed this news on June 20, 2025, through their Immortal Universe social media channels, sharing the first image of the season’s clapperboard.

Filming is currently taking place in Toronto, Canada, and is expected to continue until October. While Toronto is the main location so far, it’s not clear if other cities will be used like in the previous season, which had scenes shot in places such as Prague, Paris, and New Orleans.

Showrunner Rolin Jones has kept most details under wraps, but fans know that quiet periods usually mean exciting developments are on the way.

Last year, AMC gave a hint about what Season 3 will cover. The story will shift focus to Lestat, who wants to correct how he’s been shown before. The new season will follow him as he starts a band and goes on tour.

Alongside familiar faces like Louis and Armand, new characters such as Gabrielle, Nicholas, Magnus, Marius, and a group called Those Who Must Be Kept will join this journey. The teaser promised, “No Auto-Tuning. No Trigger Warnings. All Feels Amplified.”

Several actors are confirmed to return, including Sam Reid as Lestat, Jacob Anderson as Louis, and Assad Zaman as Armand. However, the actors for new important roles like Gabrielle, Marius, Magnus, and Those Who Must Be Kept have not been revealed yet.

This season is expected to be a big change. While the previous seasons focused mostly on Louis and his story, Season 3 will put Lestat at the center. Fans of Anne Rice’s books know this means a big shift in tone, matching the change between Interview with the Vampire and The Vampire Lestat.

The new season will show Lestat’s life, from his difficult childhood in 18th-century France, his transformation into a vampire, and his rise as a rockstar in the 1980s.

Despite any changes to fit the show’s timeline, two things will remain: the show won’t play it safe, and the complicated love story between Louis and Lestat will still be central.

This season will also introduce new characters that fans have been waiting to see. Gabrielle is Lestat’s strong and intelligent mother. Marius, an ancient vampire, will act as a mentor. Magnus, the vampire who turned Lestat, has a haunting role. And Those Who Must Be Kept—also known as Akasha and Enkil, are mysterious ancient vampires who could be a major threat. Akasha, known as the Queen of the Damned, may even become the main villain in Season 4.

At San Diego Comic-Con in 2024, AMC gave a sneak peek that included a song performed by Lestat. The track is part of a fictional rock album created for the show, composed by Daniel Hart and sung by Sam Reid. Rolin Jones later confirmed that the full album, containing 16 songs, is complete.

With filming underway, fans can expect more updates and maybe another teaser at the next Comic-Con or soon after.

No official release date has been announced yet. But if the schedule follows previous seasons, the third season could arrive around May 2026.
