Several months ago, it was announced that Julia Garner will portray the MCU’s Silver Surfer. Julia will take on the role of Shalla-Bal, Norrin Radd’s love interest in the comics. However, Shalla-Bal will also serve as the Herald of Galactus, known as Sunglow.

The reactions to Julia Garner’s casting have been highly polarized. Many fans feel that gender-swapping the Silver Surfer, a character traditionally seen as male, disrespects his legacy. Conversely, another segment of the fandom believes that female versions of the Silver Surfer deserve their moment in the spotlight.

‘Fantastic Four’ is set to begin production soon, and numerous details about the movie are being leaked by industry insiders and scoopers. One recent rumor, highlighted by Cosmic Circus’ Alex Perez, suggests that Julia Garner’s role in the MCU will be brief, described as “one and done.”

If this rumor is true, it’s not entirely unexpected. Kevin Feige has already confirmed that ‘Fantastic Four’ will be set in an alternate reality, implying that the MCU’s main Silver Surfer will debut later. According to Perez’s comments, it appears that Julia Garner won’t be portraying the primary version of Silver Surfer.
