A rumored cast list attributed to industry insider Jeff Sneider circulated with a long roster of returning heroes, and Moon Knight was notably absent from it despite the growing buzz around the project’s extended lineup. That omission has been one of the main pieces of evidence fans point to when arguing his appearance is unlikely.
There has been no confirmed second season of ‘Moon Knight,’ and while Marvel has indicated the character will return to the franchise at some point, the studio has not said when that might happen leaving the timeline for his comeback genuinely unclear. That list has reportedly grown to include more than two dozen names, with a livestream reveal in March 2025 marking one of the largest single cast unveilings in the studio’s history as Marvel confirmed a 27 strong cast with additional names still swirling in rumors. Even with that scale, Marc Spector’s name has not appeared among them.
Recent updates from Marvel’s Hall H panel added further names to the mix, including Ryan Gosling as Ghost Rider and David Jonsson stepping into the role of a new Black Panther alongside a new trailer showing Doctor Doom stopping Thor’s Stormbreaker and raising an army of Sentinels. None of those reveals mentioned Moon Knight either.

Speculation intensified after Isaac had to cancel a planned appearance at Star Wars Celebration in Japan, citing changes to his production schedule without naming a specific project a cancellation that arrived unusually close to the event itself. Fans quickly connected the timing to the fact that ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ was ramping up production in the United Kingdom during the same window.
The oddest detail, according to reporting at the time, was that Isaac’s absence from the convention was only announced shortly before the event, suggesting he may not have known about any new commitment until recently which some read as a sign his involvement came together late in the process. Others noted that his official show account confirmed the scheduling conflict without elaborating further leaving fans to fill in the gaps themselves.
Isaac later addressed the swirling rumors in person, teasing the idea of Marc Spector’s return during a public appearance where he greeted fans and signed memorabilia without committing to specifics about what shape that return might take. The comment was enough to keep the theory alive even without a firm answer.
Comic Book Canon Complicates a Moon Knight Doomsday Appearance
Working against the theory is the source material itself. Moon Knight does not appear in the ‘Secret Wars’ comics event that inspired the two-part finale, and he is not typically portrayed as an adversary or ally tied to Doctor Doom’s storylines which makes his presence in either ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ or ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ seem unlikely from a purely comic accurate standpoint.
That has not stopped fans from hoping the films chart their own path independent of the comics, especially since Marc Spector’s most recent on screen appearance came as a member of the Avengers during the final season of the animated series ‘What If.’ Some fans view that appearance as evidence Marvel has already been quietly laying groundwork for a live action comeback.
One of the more tangible pieces of evidence came from production credits rather than rumor, with three stunt performers tied specifically to ‘Moon Knight’ reportedly spotted listed among the ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ crew a detail that carries more weight than typical fan speculation because of how specific and traceable it is. Even so, a stunt credit alone does not confirm an on screen role for the character.
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 18, after being pushed back from an earlier date with Marvel confirming the series remains available to stream for anyone catching up before the film’s release.
