Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the next big superhero movie coming soon, based on the famous Marvel Comics character. This film is a team effort between Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios, and Sony Pictures will handle the release.

It’s planned to be the fourth Spider-Man movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. This movie also marks the 38th film in the entire MCU. Destin Daniel Cretton is directing, with Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers writing the script. Tom Holland will return as Peter Parker, alongside Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, and Michael Mando.

Sony started working on this fourth Spider-Man film back in August 2019, even before No Way Home came out. Producer Amy Pascal shared in November 2021 that this movie would kick off a new trilogy starring Tom Holland.

They began working on the story in December 2021. By February 2023, McKenna and Sommers were confirmed to return as writers, and Destin Daniel Cretton was chosen to direct by October 2024. The film’s title, Brand New Day, was announced in March 2025. Filming started in August 2025, mainly at Pinewood Studios in England, with some scenes shot in Glasgow, Scotland.

The movie is set to hit theaters in the United States on July 31, 2026, as part of Phase Six of the MCU. As production continues, fans are already buzzing about what might be the greatest behind-the-scenes photo ever taken from the film.

Principal photography kicked off on August 3, 2025, in Glasgow, under the working title Blue Oasis. Brett Pawlak, who has worked with Cretton before, is the cinematographer. Originally, filming was supposed to start earlier in 2025 but was delayed due to Tom Holland’s other projects, like The Odyssey.

Production in Glasgow is scheduled for about two weeks, covering spots like Merchant City, George Square, and Trongate. These areas will stand in for New York City, and at least one big action scene will be filmed there. Holland expressed excitement about filming on location again, saying it reminded him of making Spider-Man: Homecoming, especially since No Way Home had to rely mostly on soundstages during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Photos from Glasgow show armored vehicles marked with a red demon logo. Bradley Russell from Total Film pointed out that these logos look like those used by the Inner Demons gang from the comics, hinting that the villain Mister Negative might appear in the movie. Soundstage filming is happening at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, England.

With filming underway and so much excitement around it, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is shaping up to be a thrilling next chapter. And that behind-the-scenes photo? Fans might just have seen the best one yet.
