Dana Eden, the producer of the hit Israeli show “Tehran,” was found dead in a hotel room in Athens on Sunday, Greek police said. She was 52 years old. Authorities are treating the death as a possible suicide.

Eden was in Athens filming the fourth season of the Apple TV+ spy series, which follows a Mossad agent trying to infiltrate Iran’s regime. Her body was discovered by her brother after he grew worried when she didn’t reply to his messages, according to the Israeli broadcaster Kan. Local news outlet Ta Nea reported that Eden had bruises on her neck and lower body.

The company behind “Tehran,” Donna and Shula Productions, said there was no foul play involved. “The production company wants to make it clear that the rumors of the death being criminal or nationalistic are not true and baseless,” a spokesperson told the Times of Israel.

“We call on the media and the public not to publish unfounded theories and to act with responsibility and sensitivity. This is a moment of immense pain for the family, friends, and colleagues. We want to preserve Dana’s dignity and her privacy.”

Israeli broadcasting leaders also expressed their sadness. “Dana was among the senior figures in the Israeli television industry and was a central figure in the creation and leadership of some of the corporation’s most prominent and influential productions,” they said.

Dana Eden had worked on shows such as “Saving the Wildlife,” “She Has It,” and “Shakshouka” before joining “Tehran.” The third season of the show premiered on Apple TV+ on January 9, though it was originally planned for last July but delayed due to the 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran.

Her sudden death has shocked colleagues, fans, and the Israeli entertainment industry.
