Blake Lively has spent years building a business career alongside her acting work. Her beverage venture began in 2021 with Betty Buzz, a line of non-alcoholic sparkling mixers, before expanding to include Betty Booze, a range of ready-to-drink canned cocktails.

The drinks brand gave Lively a strong presence in the celebrity business space. Her latest headlines, however, are about where that business may be headed. According to a TMZ report, Lively’s alcohol business is slowly winding down. The outlet connected the shift to the aftermath of her legal dispute with her ‘It Ends with Us’ co-star Justin Baldoni.

Representatives for Lively and Betty Buzz had not responded to the report at the time The Express Tribune published its coverage. Lively has not publicly confirmed any plans to shut the brand down.

TMZ reviewed the company’s trademark filings as part of its report. According to Mediaweek, the Betty Booze and Betty Buzz trademarks remain active, but several other trademark applications connected to the company have been abandoned.

Those abandoned filings reportedly covered other beverages and products. Even so, the core brand names themselves have not been dropped. The brands’ online activity has also slowed. TMZ reported that Betty Buzz has not posted on Instagram since April 5, despite having more than 278,000 followers, according to The Express Tribune.

Betty Booze’s last post on Instagram was on September 28. The Express Tribune notes that the brand’s most recent promotion was shared about 5 weeks before the report. The report comes months after Lively’s high-profile legal battle with Baldoni came to an end.

Lively had sued Baldoni, several production companies and a crisis communications expert, alleging sexual harassment on the set of ‘It Ends with Us’ and retaliation after she raised concerns, according to Court TV.

Baldoni’s countersuit was dismissed the previous year, and a judge dismissed most of Lively’s allegations in April. The 2 sides announced a settlement on May 4, shortly before the trial was set to begin on May 18, and the terms were not made public.

In a joint statement, both parties described the film as a source of pride and acknowledged that the process had been difficult. They also said they hoped the agreement would bring closure.

Lively has been open about her own relationship with alcohol. In November 2021, she said she doesn’t drink because she doesn’t like how it makes her feel, but she enjoys being part of the social experience.

She has said she loves the social side of creating cocktails and bringing people together. That idea helped shape Betty Buzz and Betty Booze as brands built around shared moments.

Lively’s reported slowdown comes amid wider conversation about celebrity-led businesses. Mediaweek cited an October opinion piece by TrinityP3 founder Darren Woolley, who argued that fame can help attract customers but isn’t a business model on its own.

He pointed to Scarlett Johansson’s skincare brand The Outset, which launched in 2022 and was wound down about 4 years later. For now, Betty Buzz and Betty Booze remain active trademarks, and it isn’t clear whether the brands will close completely.

Do you think Blake Lively's Betty Buzz and Betty Booze brands can make a comeback?
