‘It’s Like a Death To Me’: Teen Titans Actor Greg Cipes On Being Fired Just a Day After Parkinson’s Diagnosis
Greg Cipes, the longtime voice of Beast Boy, is speaking out after being let go from Teen Titans Go! and says he wants fans to help him get the role back.
On Sunday, internet journalist and DC fan Emmanuel Newsome shared a post on Instagram about the actor’s situation. Newsome tagged James Gunn and asked him to step in, saying that Cipes had shared “lots of upsetting details” about Warner Bros. and how the studio treated him after his Parkinson’s diagnosis.
Cipes later joined the conversation by responding directly to the post. He explained what had happened and when it took place. “Warner Bros. literally fired me on Valentine’s Day right after I publicly shared my Parkinson’s diagnosis,” Cipes wrote. “It’s like a death to me that only the fans can bring back to life.”

Newsome also told followers he plans to launch a petition to help Cipes return to his role as Beast Boy.
Cipes has been the voice of Beast Boy for over two decades. He first brought the green shapeshifter to life in the original Teen Titans animated series in 2003 and continued to play him when Teen Titans Go! launched in 2013.
Over the years, he voiced Beast Boy in every season of the comedy spinoff, which has lasted for 426 episodes, multiple TV specials, and even a feature film. Along with Beast Boy, Cipes also voiced characters like Adonis and Private H.I.V.E. in the original series.
His career goes far beyond the Titans. He has credits in Young Justice, Ben 10 (2016), Milo Murphy’s Law, DC Super Hero Girls, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Ultimate Spider-Man, and Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!
Meanwhile, Teen Titans Go! has remained one of DC’s most successful animated series. The show has earned three Emmy nominations for outstanding short-form animated program and features a cast that includes Scott Menville, Khary Payton, Hynden Walch, and Tara Strong.
For Cipes, losing the role was devastating. By his own words, it felt like more than just losing a job. Now, he’s asking fans to step in and help him get Beast Boy back, believing that their support is the only way to change things.
