J.K. Rowling, the author behind the famous Harry Potter series, has revealed which film in the franchise she considers her favorite, and it might not be the one fans expect. Speaking to Reuters, Rowling said that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 holds a special place for her.

“This is my favourite film of the lot. So it’s a very exciting evening but I’m looking forward to seeing it again. I’ve only seen it once,” she shared.

The Harry Potter series, created by Rowling, follows a young wizard, Harry Potter, as he discovers his magical heritage and attends Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Alongside his friends Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, Harry faces dangerous challenges that test his bravery, friendship, and moral choices, leading up to a final confrontation with the dark wizard Lord Voldemort.

Deathly Hallows: Part 1, released in 2010 and directed by David Yates, is the seventh film in the series.

The movie focuses on Harry, Ron, and Hermione leaving the safety of Hogwarts to hunt down and destroy Voldemort’s Horcruxes, objects that contain pieces of the dark wizard’s soul. This installment shifts the story from magical school adventures to a tense and dangerous battle against evil, setting the stage for the series finale in Part 2.

The Harry Potter franchise has grown far beyond the original books and films, expanding into spin-offs like the Fantastic Beasts movies, the stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, theme parks, and video games.

Fans have also weighed in online about their love for Deathly Hallows: Part 1. One user on wrote, “I think this movie is the best I’ve ever watched! I just finished the series a week ago, and they were so good! I wish they never ended.”

Another added, “I think this is the most best movie I have ever seen. I just loved this movie so much. Even though there was only one book written, it was brilliantly divided into two amazing parts. Hats off Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Tom Felton and all those who have worked hard for this movie. This has come out really well. David Heyman, you really knew where to end the first part and it was like really going on a roller coaster. Thanks J.K. Rowling for giving us such a wonderful book.”

Rowling’s choice highlights the importance of Part 1 in the saga, showing how the story’s shift to a darker, more dangerous phase resonated with her. With hints that she might revisit Harry Potter in some form in the future, fans are eager to see what else could come from the Wizarding World.
