Jack Black and Paul Rudd Take on the Wild in New ‘Anaconda’ Trailer
Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for Anaconda, the upcoming action-comedy-horror film that reimagines the 1997 cult classic.
The movie stars Jack Black and Paul Rudd and will hit theaters in the United States on December 25, 2025. Directed by Tom Gormican, who co-wrote the script with Kevin Etten, the film is the sixth installment in the Anaconda franchise.
The story follows Doug (Jack Black), a wedding videographer, and Griff (Paul Rudd), a background actor, who set out into the Amazon rainforest to remake their favorite movie from childhood. Their fun adventure quickly turns dangerous when a real giant anaconda shows up, threatening the chaotic movie set.
According to Sony Pictures, “The movie they’re dying to make? It might just kill them.”

The film also features Selton Mello as Santiago Braga, Daniela Melchior as Ana Almeida, Thandiwe Newton as Claire Simons, Steve Zahn as Kenny Trent, and Ione Skye as Malie McCallister. The ensemble cast rounds out a mix of friends, colleagues, and locals who get caught up in the snake’s deadly path.
Production for the film began in January in Australia, with principal photography wrapping in late February. The project had been in development since January 2020, when Columbia Pictures announced plans for a reboot of the original Anaconda. Gormican came on board as director in March 2023, and Black and Rudd were officially cast in August 2024.
The newly released trailer gives fans a first look at the mix of comedy, adventure, and horror in the film. From chaotic jungle shoots to deadly encounters with the massive snake, the preview promises a wild ride that blends laughs and thrills.
