Jack Black Jokes About ‘Goblin Dysmorphia’ After Elle Fanning Admits Crush
Jack Black has finally reacted to Elle Fanning’s very public crush on him, and his response has gone viral.
The actor and comedian addressed the situation while promoting his upcoming movie Anaconda, and a clip of the moment quickly spread online. The video was shared by an Elle Fanning fan account on X.
Fanning, who stars in Predator: Badlands, has spoken openly over the past year about her attraction to Black. She has praised him in interviews and called him things like “sex on legs” and “the hottest man I’ve ever seen.” Until now, Black had not responded directly.
In the video, Black is seated next to his Anaconda co-star Paul Rudd when he is asked about Fanning’s comments. Black laughs and tries to explain how surprising it is for him to hear that kind of praise. That is when he comes up with a new term.
“Have you ever heard of body dysmorphia? Where when you look at yourself, you’re like, ‘Oh, I’m so ugly,’ but really you’re this gorgeous creature?” Black says. “I think she’s got the opposite of that, where she looks at me — which objectively is a goblin gremlin — and she sees this gorgeous creature apparently. She’s got that goblin dysmorphia.”

Black then thanks Fanning for the kind words and admits the attention is a lot to take in. He says he almost has to close his eyes to deal with it.
Paul Rudd quickly jumps in to back him up. With a smile, Rudd tells him the crush actually makes sense. “I will say on behalf of Elle Fanning, I get it… As does America. As does the world,” Rudd adds.

This moment is just the latest chapter in a lighthearted joke between the actors. Fanning has previously shared that her boyfriend, Gus Wenner, once joked to Black at the Golden Globes, “You’re her hall pass.” Black also makes it clear in the video that there is no drama and says there is “no beef” between anyone involved.
