The Marvel Cinematic Universe has a busy schedule ahead, even if the last few projects haven’t been the biggest hits. Marvel Studios has been talking about slowing down and making fewer movies and shows. Fans have been asking for better quality instead of more quantity. But one hero that still gets people excited no matter what is Spider-Man. His movies have always been among Marvel’s biggest money-makers.

Filming for the new Spider-Man movie, Brand New Day, started over a week ago in Glasgow. Since then, there have already been plenty of leaks and even some official sneak peeks from the set.

People on location saw armored vehicles with a demon logo, a symbol usually linked to the villain Mr. Negative, who has been heavily rumored for the film. Glasgow World’s Paul Trainer also reported that the set had a prop shaped like a rhinoceros head, which looks a lot like the Rhino from the comics. On top of that, other villains like Knull and Hobgoblin have been teased as possible appearances.

That last one has fans talking even more after Jacob Batalon, who plays Ned in the Spider-Man movies, posted a photo on social media of himself holding a Hobgoblin action figure.

Some fans think he’s hinting at a big reveal. Others don’t like the idea, but it’s not completely random, Batalon has admitted before that the idea of Ned becoming Hobgoblin has been talked about.

However, in an interview with CBR a few months ago, Batalon said he doesn’t know if Marvel will actually go through with it. “Honestly, I’m not sure. Again, we may have talked about things, for sure, but I don’t know if it would’ve really led to anything serious about being a villain, or anything like that,” he said.

Batalon also shared that he has no idea if Ned will even be in Brand New Day. “I’m open to anything, and I think we all are open to anything. Unless you’re like a superhero, like big time, one of the main ones they’re trying to make movies about, you don’t really know what’s going to happen. In the industry, people don’t want to hope to wish. So, I would hopefully [return]. I’m down for anything. I would love to be a part of something special again. But also at the same time, I understand it’s a business, and people may not want that thing anymore, so I’m just being more realistic than anything else,” he explained.

For now, the question of whether Ned becomes Hobgoblin, or even appears at all, remains unanswered. But with filming underway and so many villains in the mix, fans are already bracing for big surprises.
