Jacob Elordi Honors a Childhood Promise With His Oscars Date
Jacob Elordi is currently celebrating a career milestone that has been thirteen years in the making. The talented actor is officially an Academy Award nominee, and he is using the high-profile occasion to fulfill a childhood vow.
When he was only fifteen years old, he told his mother, Melissa Elordi, that she would be his date to the Oscars if he ever received a nomination. Now, at twenty-eight, he is making good on that sentimental promise by walking the red carpet with her by his side.
During a recent interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the actor confirmed his plans for the big night. “I’m going to take mom,” he told the late-night host. “I promised her when I was 15 that I would take her. So, I have to honor that.”

He credited his mother’s unwavering support as a primary reason for his success in the industry. While his father once suggested having a backup plan in case acting didn’t work out, Melissa never stopped believing in his potential.
“My mom fully believed in me the whole time,” he reflected during the interview. “And I remember dad did the dad thing at one point where he was like, ‘You know, you’ve got to have a plan B because this isn’t necessarily feasible.'”
Elordi also revealed that it was actually his mother who broke the news of his nomination to him. He was too anxious to watch the announcement live, so he decided to sleep through the early morning broadcast.
“I went to bed, and I was asleep, comfortably, and then I heard my mum’s phone ring at like 5 a.m.,” he shared with a smile. “And then [I hear] her little feet coming up the stairs, and then her face sort of told me that I’d been nominated. It was so beautiful.”

The nomination itself comes from his transformative performance in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein. In this adaptation, Elordi took on the monumental task of playing the Creature, spending hours in the makeup chair for various prosthetics.
Elordi’s rise to Hollywood’s A-list has been swift following his breakout roles in The Kissing Booth trilogy and the hit HBO series Euphoria. In recent years, he has focused on prestige cinema, earning acclaim for his portrayal of Elvis Presley in Priscilla and his role in the thriller Saltburn.
He has also been linked to several high-concept dramas currently in pre-production. His busy schedule confirms his status as one of the most sought-after leading men of his generation.
Fans of the actor are also eagerly awaiting the eventual return of Euphoria for its third season. Between his television work and his burgeoning film career, Elordi continues to prove his versatility across different genres.
