Jameela Jamil is not holding back after unsealed court documents from the high-profile legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni thrust her private messages into the public eye. The documents, released as part of a discovery phase for a May trial, featured a text exchange from August 2024 where Jamil referred to Lively as a suicide bomber and a villain during the controversial press tour for the film It Ends With Us.

The case itself began when Lively filed a sexual harassment complaint against her co-star and director in December 2024, alleging a hostile work environment and a subsequent smear campaign. Baldoni’s team has denied the claims, and while his $400 million defamation countersuit was dismissed last June, the original suit remains active.

Jamil took to TikTok and Instagram to address the unredacted release of her name, which she described as a targeted attempt to cause trouble. I think it’s really weird that my private text messages from 18 months ago have suddenly been released now, she said. She was quick to point out the timeline, reminding followers that her venting occurred four months before any legal allegations were made public.

The actress explained that her harsh words were a reaction to what she perceived as a callous and tone-mixed promotional tour for a film about domestic violence. I grew up with domestic violence in my home, I was a victim of domestic violence in my 20s. It made me feel some type of way, Jamil noted. She clarified that her suicide bomber comment was a metaphorical reference to someone sabotaging their own project through poor interview choices.

Addressing the blow to her feminist image, Jamil stood by her right to criticize other women privately. Me calling her a ‘suicide bomber’ is just a reference to me watching someone use their own terrible answers in interviews to blow up their own career, she added. She emphasized that while she never joined the public pile-on in 2024, she felt entitled to share her frustrations with a close friend in a private group chat.

Jamil also made it clear that her loyalty lies with her friends, specifically a publicist who she claims has been treated poorly by powerful industry figures. When it’s my girlfriend being upset by anyone, I don’t care what’s going on or who did what or who’s to blame, I see red, I am 10 toes down, the star asserted. She described the current public scrutiny as incredibly sinister and an attempt to throw her under the bus.

While the entertainment world remains fixated on the Lively-Baldoni trial, Jamil insisted she has more important concerns. I care more about what’s happening in Palestine and Sudan and Congo and the United Kingdom and the United States, she said. She concluded by stating she is actively finished with the topic, hoping for a release from the ongoing drama.

Away from the legal crossfire, Jameela Jamil has been keeping a busy professional schedule in 2026. She recently appeared at the Los Angeles premiere for the Netflix romantic comedy People We Meet on Vacation, based on the popular Emily Henry novel. In the film, which began streaming in this month, Jamil plays the role of Swapna Bakshi-Highsmith, the stylish and supportive boss of the lead character, Poppy.

The actress is also returning to her comedy roots with a highly anticipated live show titled Wrong Turns with Jameela Jamil, which is set to debut in Hollywood on May 4. This project is part of a larger partnership with Netflix and marks her return to the stage after focusing on voice work and activism. Additionally, she is slated to voice a character in the upcoming Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie, which is currently in production for a 2026 release.
