James Wan, director of Aquaman and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom revealed a small secret about the spin-off movie Trench, which was announced in February 2019 but was canceled last April.

Although the fans will return to Atlantis through Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which is set to be released next year, some fans are still wondering what would the spin-off movie Trench, which was announced as a horror movie, by the way, be about.

Now, James Wan shared a little secret in one reply on his recent Instagram post:

“I’ll let you in on a secret, the canceled Trench spin-off movie was really going to be a Black Manta movie.”

Wan wrote this as a reply to one of the comments on his Instagram post where he shared a new look on Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s Black Manta.

Of course, now when the project is canceled, it’s easy to say anything. Maybe Wan was just joking. But, it’s important to know that Warner Bros. said that maybe they’ll revive the project in the future. So, who knows what the future has in store for us and all the DC characters beneath the sea.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is set to be released on December 16, 2022.
