Jason Momoa Channels Lobo in Wild Reaction to ‘Supergirl’ Movie Poster

Jason Momoa is done playing Aquaman, but he’s not done with DC movies. He’s now playing Lobo in the upcoming Supergirl movie.

Fans recently got a small preview of what his version of the character might be like. When director James Gunn shared the first official Supergirl movie poster on Instagram, Momoa had a fun reaction that felt very much like Lobo himself.

He commented on Gunn’s post with the words “Look out bastich,” adding some “rock on” emojis after that. Fans of Lobo know that “bastich” is one of the bounty hunter’s favorite words, so it was a nice tease for what’s coming. The Supergirl poster shows Milly Alcock in her new costume, and the tagline reads “Look out.” Momoa’s message was clearly a playful nod to that.

The actor finished filming his scenes back in April, a month before the rest of the movie wrapped up. Not much is known about the plot, but Momoa has hinted that he’ll only appear in a small role.

Still, he’s very happy to bring Lobo to life on the big screen. In an interview earlier this year, Momoa said he had been practicing Lobo’s unique curse words, like “bastich” and “fraggin’.”

Supergirl is set to release in theaters in June 2026. This week, Gunn shared the teaser poster for the movie, which might be the only official look fans get for a while. Gunn likely posted the image early because of leaks following Supergirl’s short appearance in the Superman film.

According to DC Studios, Supergirl won’t be part of their big Comic-Con presentation next week. Instead, they’re focusing on Peacemaker Season 2, which arrives in August. There could be a Supergirl update later this year.

Momoa has been a fan-favorite choice to play Lobo for a long time. Thankfully, his past role as Aquaman didn’t stop him from joining Gunn’s new DC Universe. Gunn said it was “always part of the plan” to cast Momoa as Lobo. Momoa himself is passionate about the character, and fans hope that energy shows when the movie hits theaters. He’s known for bringing big personality to his roles, like in Aquaman and Dune, so many believe he’s a great choice for Lobo.
