Jayme Lawson turned heads at the 2026 Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards held this week at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles. The actress, honored in a special Luminary Spotlight for her work in the record-breaking film Sinners, arrived on the blue carpet in a daring white corseted gown that immediately caught attention.

The gown featured a structured bodice with a plunging neckline showing off her curves. Lawson moved with confidence, perfectly matching the event’s theme, Off Script, which celebrated Black women taking control of their stories in Hollywood.

As photographers snapped pictures, Lawson radiated poise and elegance, embracing the fashion risk with ease.

The Essence event also highlighted the success of Sinners, which made history as the most Academy Award–nominated film ever. Lawson joined her castmates, including Zinzi Coogler and Ruth E. Carter, on stage to accept the group honor, marking a milestone in her career.

Lawson’s career continues to gain momentum. After Sinners, she appeared in Edgar Wright’s reimagining of The Running Man, playing Sheila Richards alongside Glen Powell, Josh Brolin, and Colman Domingo. The film was a box office hit and further established Lawson as a versatile actress capable of handling both large-scale blockbusters and more intimate roles.

In addition to acting, Lawson has expanded into music, earning a Grammy nomination for her contributions to the Sinners soundtrack. Music and acting come from the same emotional well for me, she explained, showing how she blends her artistic passions.

A Juilliard graduate, Lawson has quickly risen from her breakout role in The Batman to become a major force in Hollywood. She is also a vocal advocate for diverse storytelling, often choosing projects that challenge traditional narratives and amplify underrepresented voices.

Whether dazzling on the red carpet or commanding the screen, Jayme Lawson continues to impress as both an actress and a style icon. Her appearance at the Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards reflected her growth and influence in entertainment and fashion.
