Jennifer Garner made a sophisticated statement in New York City this week, stepping out in a striking one-shouldered ensemble to celebrate the upcoming return of her hit drama series.

The 53-year-old actress and producer visited The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Monday, February 16, where she balanced discussions about her high-stakes acting role with updates on her thriving business ventures.

For the late-night appearance, Garner selected a refined black Bottega Veneta dress paired with classic Gianvito Rossi heels, embodying an effortless “quiet luxury” aesthetic. During her sit-down with Colbert, she offered fans a glimpse into what they can expect from the sophomore season of Apple TV’s The Last Thing He Told Me.

She explained that her character, Hannah Hall, has shifted into a defensive mindset, having been preparing for the danger that is bound to find her family. Garner highlighted the intense evolution of her character, noting that Hannah is now ready to protect her daughter at all costs.

She spoke warmly of her co-star Angourie Rice, who plays her stepdaughter, and shared that the new episodes feature a satisfying payoff as Hannah’s meticulous preparations finally meet the threats head-on.

The actress joked that since her character has finally learned how to hold her own in a physical confrontation, viewers will get to see her thrown down when the action ramps up. The highly anticipated second season is set to premiere on February 20. This new installment is based on The First Time I Saw Him, the newly released sequel novel by author Laura Dave.

The cast has expanded for the new season as well, with heavyweights like Rita Wilson and Judy Greer joining the original lineup of Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and David Morse. Beyond her work in front of the camera, Garner has been making massive waves in the business world this month.

Her organic children’s food company, Once Upon a Farm, officially made its debut on the New York Stock Exchange on February 7. Trading under the ticker symbol OFRM, the company reached a valuation of over $700 million, marking a major milestone in Garner’s career as a co-founder and Chief Brand Officer.

Her filming schedule remains just as busy as her corporate calendar. Garner is currently in the middle of production for the Netflix comedy One Attempt Remaining, directed by Kay Cannon. The film follows a divorced couple who must work together to remember a lost cryptocurrency password worth millions.

Garner’s presence at major industry events has also seen a resurgence this year. In January, she returned to the Golden Globes for the first time in over a decade, serving as a presenter and turning heads in a sequined black gown.

Between her successful IPO, her growing production slate, and her return to action-heavy roles, the 13 Going on 30 star is currently navigating one of the most prolific chapters of her long-standing career.
