Jennifer Lawrence Reveals Her Favorite Comedy Movie of All Time
Jennifer Lawrence solidified her status as a powerhouse performer when she earned the Academy Award for Best Actress for her work in the 2012 hit Silver Linings Playbook. That victory proved she possessed a sharp comedic timing that could rival her dramatic depth.
Despite her success in the genre, many of her funniest roles often carry an underlying current of tragedy or social tension. While Lawrence has created her own catalog of memorable screen moments, she remains a devoted admirer of the comedy legends who came before her.
In a previous discussion regarding her personal cinematic favorites, she highlighted five specific films that shaped her perspective on humor. Among a list that included the Coen brothers’ The Big Lebowski and the cult classic Harold and Maude, there was one particular title that Lawrence admitted to being completely captivated by.
The film in question is the 2004 David O. Russell feature I Heart Huckabees, a surreal existential comedy that follows two “existential detectives” played by Dustin Hoffman and Lily Tomlin.
Lawrence has been vocal about her deep appreciation for the movie’s eccentricities, admitting that she was obsessed with it when I first saw it and even viewed it four times within a single week. She often warns friends that you might not like it because of its bizarre nature, yet she considers it her top comedy pick.
Jennifer Lawrence is enjoying a significant career high while balancing her life as a mother following the birth of her second child in 2025. She recently garnered critical acclaim and a Golden Globe nomination for her performance in the psychological thriller Die My Love, which hit theaters in November 2025.
Directed by Lynne Ramsay and co-starring Robert Pattinson, the film explores a woman’s descent into madness in a remote rural setting, further showcasing Lawrence’s range. Looking ahead to the rest of the year, fans are eagerly anticipating her return to the world of Panem.
It was recently confirmed that Lawrence will reprise her iconic role as Katniss Everdeen in a flash-forward sequence for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, which is scheduled for a November 20 release. The movie stars Joseph Zada as a young Haymitch Abernathy and features an ensemble cast including Maya Hawke and Ralph Fiennes.
In addition to her return to blockbusters, Lawrence is set to begin filming a highly anticipated collaboration with director Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio titled What Happens at Night.
She is also producing and starring in the murder mystery The Wives, a project for Apple Original Films that is inspired by the Real Housewives franchise. With her production company, Excellent Cadaver.
Do you think Jennifer Lawrence’s return to the Hunger Games franchise as Katniss Everdeen is a necessary bridge for the new prequel story, or would you prefer to see her leave that chapter of her career in the past? Share your thoughts in the comments.
