Jennifer Lawrence says she knows she talks too much during press tours, and she’s starting to worry it always gets her into trouble. The actress shared her thoughts while appearing on Amy Poehler’s podcast Good Hang, where she was promoting her new movie Die My Love. The comments were made directly on the podcast, which is the source of the conversation.

Lawrence joked that doing interviews makes her rethink her whole career. She said she probably should not do as much press as other actors. “I think when I do press I should do half of what normal people do,” she said. She explained that once her interviews are online, she realizes how wild her quotes sound. “Because I see my quotes and they are insane,” she added.

She laughed about how easily her words could turn into messy headlines. She even made up an example on the spot. “Like, ‘Jennifer Lawrence Calls Kourtney Kardashian Annoying.’ It’s too [much]… it carries!’” she said, joking that her comments always seem to spiral.

Still, even while warning herself, Lawrence dropped another headline-ready moment during the chat. When Poehler mentioned that Lawrence often supports women in the industry, the actress responded with sarcasm. “Oh yeah. I do. What do you think… I love white men?” she said.

She pushed the joke further by pretending to defend them. “Oh my god! If I could just be their champion. They are so misunderstood,” she added, clearly joking. The moment was playful, but it quickly led into a more serious discussion about how female directors shaped her career.

Lawrence said working with women early on made a huge difference for her. She pointed to Winter’s Bone, directed by Debra Granik, as a turning point. That role earned her first Oscar nomination. “My first movie ever was a female director,” she said.

She explained that seeing women in charge behind the camera made her believe she could do the same one day. “I realized it was possible for me to [direct, too],” Lawrence said. “I’ve wanted to do it since I was a teenager.”

She revealed that she’s been quietly preparing for that step by learning from directors she works with now. “When I went into movies in my 20s and now, I always tell the director that and they include me,” she explained. She said many of them let her sit in on editing and post-production.

Lawrence also shared that she already has a project lined up. She confirmed that she has written a comedy script and plans to direct it herself. “I would love to direct and I’ll star in it,” she said, though she did not share details about the story.
