Letterboxd was at the 2025 Governor’s Awards, asking celebrities about their four favorite movies. One of the stars they spoke with was Jennifer Lopez.

When asked, J.Lo quickly shared her picks. “West Side Story [1961], The Notebook, A Bronx Tale, Prelude to a Kiss,” she said without hesitation.

Each of these films holds a special place in her heart. West Side Story is a classic musical that blends romance and drama, and Lopez previously confirmed that it made a particular impression on her when she was young. She wanted to be an entertainer from an early age.

Lopez credited Puerto Rican actress Rita Moreno’s performance in the musical as the major influence on her career path and artistry. Moreno was the only performer Lopez was able to identify with at a time when Latinos were rarely on television.

The Notebook is a timeless love story that has become a modern romantic favorite, known for its emotional depth and unforgettable moments. A Bronx Tale is a coming-of-age story set in New York, mixing family drama and life lessons, and it has been praised for its strong performances and memorable storytelling.

Prelude to a Kiss is a romantic fantasy that explores love and identity in a unique way, showing Jennifer’s appreciation for films that mix emotion with thought-provoking ideas.

It’s interesting to see the mix of musicals, romance, and personal storytelling in her choices. What do you think of Jennifer Lopez’s picks? Do you agree with her favorites, or would you choose different ones? Share your thoughts in the comments.
