Jensen Ackles has announced that filming for the first season of Vought Rising, the upcoming spinoff of The Boys, has officially wrapped. The Supernatural star shared a behind-the-scenes video on his Instagram, showing himself preparing to step into his Soldier Boy costume, which he explained requires the help of three to five people to get on. Alongside the clip, Ackles confirmed it was the final day of shooting for the highly anticipated series.

“Finishing out with a bang! It’s been an absolute thrill ride. Thanks to the crew and cast and all those that gave so much time and energy to make this happen. You’re all a bunch of psychos…and I love you for it,” he wrote, tagging @primevideo, @sonypicturestv, @theboystv, and @voughtrising.

No official release date has been announced for Vought Rising, but it’s expected to follow the release of The Boys Season 5. That season will debut with a two-episode premiere on April 8, with new episodes released weekly on Prime Video until the finale on May 20.

Fans are especially excited because of the show’s connection to Supernatural. The series is created by Eric Kripke, who also developed Supernatural, and Season 5 of The Boys has been framed as a kind of reunion for the beloved cast. Ackles will reprise his role as Soldier Boy, and he will be joined by Supernatural co-stars Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins, who originally played Sam Winchester and Castiel alongside Ackles’ Dean Winchester.

While this won’t be Supernatural Season 16, many fans see it as the closest thing to a reunion they’ll get. The dynamic between Ackles, Padalecki, and Collins is generating a lot of excitement, as viewers anticipate seeing their chemistry in a completely new story and setting.

Vought Rising follows the story of Soldier Boy and is expected to explore his journey in the same dark, satirical universe as The Boys. With Ackles’ return and the Supernatural connections, the show is already one of the most talked-about spinoffs in recent memory.

Ackles’ Instagram post gave fans a peek behind the curtain, showing the effort and care that goes into creating the Soldier Boy character. The costume alone requires a small team, highlighting the complexity and dedication involved in the production.

This announcement adds to the growing buzz around The Boys franchise. With the final season of the main series arriving soon and Vought Rising on the horizon, viewers can expect an exciting few months of streaming content full of action, dark humor, and familiar faces.

It’s clear that Jensen Ackles and his co-stars are excited for fans to see what’s coming. The combination of returning Supernatural actors and the established world of The Boys has created high expectations for storytelling, humor, and action.

The crossover of Supernatural talent into the The Boys universe is a brilliant move. Fans get the nostalgia of seeing Ackles, Padalecki, and Collins together again, while also enjoying fresh, edgy storytelling. I’m particularly curious to see how Soldier Boy’s story unfolds and how it ties into the larger Boys narrative.
