Jeremy Allen White Says He Would Love to Star in a Rom-Com
Kate Hudson and Jeremy Allen White recently spoke with Variety about movies and their experiences in the industry.
Hudson shared a bit about her early career, saying, “I got the part when I was 19. It was a dream. I had already started writing music at 18 years old, but to have someone like Cameron be this wellspring of musical information? It blew my mind, and it blew my life open.”
During the conversation, Hudson asked White if he would ever consider doing a romantic comedy. White admitted he would, saying, “I’d love to. I’ve never done one before but they seem so fun.” Hudson, however, pointed out that rom-coms are harder than they look. “They’re harder than you think. The rules are different. You want to make it for the people showing up to see it. They want something out of it, too. They want to feel, to laugh.”
White explained his concern about choosing the right role. “I worry about finding the right character, because I’d want it to be a classic rom-com. Not a flash in the pan, but ‘When Harry Met Sally.’” Hudson agreed, calling it “one of the greats” and adding that the genre is difficult to do well. “It’s a game-changer for your life. You can’t imagine how many people you help feel good.”
White has recently been busy starring in the movie Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere. The 2025 American biographical musical drama shows the life of Bruce Springsteen during the making of his 1982 album Nebraska.
It’s directed by Scott Cooper and based on Warren Zanes’ 2023 book of the same name, as well as parts of Springsteen’s autobiography Born to Run. The film also stars Jeremy Strong, Paul Walter Hauser, Stephen Graham, and Odessa Young.
Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere had its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival on August 29, and was released in theaters in the U.S. on October 24. The movie received mixed reviews, but critics praised the performances of White and Strong. The film has made $45 million worldwide, just under its $55 million budget.
