Jeremy Renner Ready to Gear up for His Return to the MCU – “I’ll Be Ready”

Jeremy Renner, a beloved character in the MCU as Hawkeye, last appeared in live-action in the ‘Hawkeye’ show. Despite his recent role as a voice actor in ‘What If…?’ Season 2 Episode ‘What If…Happy Hogan Saved Christmas,’ concerns about his physical health have persisted for almost a year.

On January 1, 2023, Renner faced a severe accident at home involving his snowplow, leading to blunt chest trauma and 30 broken bones. Weighing 14,330 pounds, the snowplow ran over him, necessitating his airlift to Renown Regional Medical Center. After undergoing surgery, he remained in critical condition in the intensive care unit. Fortunately, by January 17, he was discharged and back home. Ten weeks later, Renner began walking with a cane, with doctors crediting his survival to his robust health and fitness.

How Did Hawkeye Become Deaf in the MCU?

Despite Jeremy’s undeniable acting talent, concerns about his health may limit his ability to take on additional superhero roles in the MCU. However, Jeremy himself suggests otherwise. In his latest interview with Entertainment Tonight, he addressed the possibility of reprising his role as Hawkeye and whether he has received any communication from the higher-ups.

I’m gonna be strong enough, that’s for sure. I’ll be ready.

He also discussed the significant support he received from his fellow MCU co-stars, highlighting how they have been the most potent source of healing during the challenging 13 months.

All those guys come to my bedside. They’ve been with me all along through this recovery, so… if they want me, they could have me. It would be something.

Renner also affirmed that he has not completely recovered and that his journey to recovery will be a lifelong process.

I’ll do whatever I can… whatever it takes to get better, to get stronger. It’s a one-way street, this recovery. The rest of my life is about health and wellness. Recovery will be part of the rest of my life, so I look forward to it, man. There’s always something to do to get better, be stronger, be happier, be healthier, and that’s what I look forward to.

The MCU boasts numerous projects either in development or rumored to be in the works. While none of these projects currently showcase Hawkeye in a standalone role, there’s ample room for his return in endeavors like ‘Avengers 5,’ ‘Avengers Secret Wars,’ and ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’ Given Kate Bishop’s role in the upcoming ‘Young Avengers,’ the possibility of Hawkeye serving as a mentor arises once again. Regardless, there’s hope that he receives the call and is genuinely prepared.
