Jesse Metcalfe (47) Admits the Only Cosmetic Procedure He’s Ever Tried
Jesse Metcalfe is sharing a rare and honest look at how he deals with aging in Hollywood, and his approach is surprisingly low-key.
In an interview with The Daily Mail, the actor revealed that he has only tried one cosmetic treatment in his life. It was Botox, and the experience did not go well. “I had a little bit of Botox in my forehead one time,” he said. But after seeing the results, he quickly decided it was not for him. “I got home and my eyebrows were uneven and I’m like, ‘I’m never doing this again.’”
Since then, he has avoided anything more serious. He explained that while he is open to minor, non-surgical treatments, he has no interest in going further. “I’m not opposed to non-invasive procedures like that,” he shared, adding, “I’m not really looking to go under the knife ever.”
Instead, he is focusing on keeping things natural. For him, it is more about skincare and maintaining his appearance over time. “I just want to do everything I can to maintain the elasticity of my skin before I even do anything like that.”
His youthful look has brought both benefits and problems. While many fans see it as a plus, Metcalfe admitted it can affect the roles he gets. “Funny enough it’s kind of a disadvantage,” he said. “Because when you reach my age, people want you to be playing these more mature roles… and sometimes I don’t look old enough.” He described feeling caught between age groups when it comes to casting.
Even with that challenge, he remains positive about his career. He said he feels lucky and believes his appearance has helped him build credibility in beauty and skincare. “I’ve been really blessed within the industry,” he noted.
He also looked back at an early turning point in his career. Speaking on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, Metcalfe talked about leaving Desperate Housewives after the first season. “I was fired from Desperate Housewives. After the first season, they didn’t really know where else to take my storyline,” he said, adding that creator Marc Cherry decided to shift the focus of the show.
At the time, he did not see it as a loss. He was already moving toward film work, including John Tucker Must Die. “I was like, ‘Hey, cool. No big deal. I’m gonna be a movie star,’” he said, explaining that he stayed confident about his future.
Today, Metcalfe seems comfortable with his choices. He is not chasing extreme changes and prefers a more relaxed approach to aging and career growth.
His mindset feels honest and grounded. In an industry where pressure to look perfect is constant, choosing a simpler path stands out. It also shows that even something many people want, like looking younger, can come with its own struggles.
