Jessica Alba has looked back on her time making the early Fantastic Four movies, and she didn’t hold back when talking about one moment she still finds embarrassing. Speaking at the Red Sea Film Festival, Alba said one particular scene from the 2005 film was especially difficult for her.

The actress explained that the moment where Sue Storm becomes visible again without any clothes on was the one she remembers with the most discomfort.

Alba said she struggled with filming it because of how she was raised and how she sees herself. She told the audience, “I thought that was awful. It was very humiliating in real life. I grew up with a pretty conservative family, and I am a pretty modest person. I dreaded that scene for weeks. I have a lot of whiplash from those days.”

Even with that tough memory, Alba still has a lot of love for the character she played. She said Sue Storm stood out to her because she wasn’t written like many female heroes at the time. Alba said Sue had a strong moral side, cared deeply about others, and wasn’t afraid to speak up.

She explained, “She was a woman I looked up to. She was very maternal and very kind, but also not a pushover; she spoke her mind. She had a great moral compass. No matter who you are, you can look up to her.”

Alba also talked about the way women were often written in superhero films back then. She pointed out that many female characters used to be side figures who needed saving, and she feels that has changed over the years.

When asked if she has watched Vanessa Kirby’s version of Sue Storm in the newest Fantastic Four movie, the actress admitted she hasn’t seen it yet. Her kids usually pick what the family watches at home.

Alba said, “I usually watch those movies with my kids, and if ‘Sonic’ was out, my son wants to watch it 85 times in a row… But I have to convince him because we have to see it! I love Marvel, and they’re so fun.”

Alba starred as Sue Storm in the first two Fantastic Four films: the 2005 movie and its 2007 sequel Rise of the Silver Surfer. While both movies made good money at the box office, critics at the time were not very impressed

Reviews often said the films felt too light, didn’t explore the characters enough, and relied heavily on simple jokes and flashy effects. Alba, in particular, received mixed reviews. Some critics liked her take on Sue, while others felt the script didn’t give her much to work with, especially compared to modern superhero films that offer deeper roles for women.

Still, the films gained a loyal fan base over the years, especially among younger audiences who grew up watching them. Many fans today look back at them with nostalgia, even if critics were harsh when they first came out.
