The current state of the MCU is incredibly exciting. Agatha All Along is releasing episodes weekly, and we have the first billion-dollar film in a while with Deadpool & Wolverine.
Many projects are lined up for 2025, 2026, and even 2027, but none are as thrilling as the two upcoming Avengers movies.
New York Comic Con delivered some exciting updates regarding the Avengers movies. Joe Russo revealed in an interview that Avengers: Doomsday will officially begin filming in the spring and already has a confirmed start date.
While the filming schedule is set, details about the movie’s plot remain scarce, with only leaks and rumors hinting at what to expect. It’s speculated that Doomsday will loosely adapt the Time Runs Out storyline.
Russo also confirmed that Doomsday and Secret Wars will not be filmed back-to-back.
Regarding the cast, it has been confirmed that Doomsday will feature the Fantastic Four and Doctor Strange, along with some members of the Thunderbolts. These characters have upcoming films, and Doctor Strange 3 is reportedly entering production soon, with Raimi set to direct. Additionally, Russo teased a potential exciting addition to the lineup: the Great Lakes Avengers.
The Great Lakes Avengers are a Marvel Comics superhero team known for their humorous and unconventional take on heroism. Their stories feature silly situations and comedy, highlighting the challenges faced by lesser-known heroes.
The team typically includes Mr. Immortal, Big Bertha, Flatman, Doorman, and Squirrel Girl, who is recognized as one of the most powerful characters in Marvel.
It seems likely that the team will not have a major role in the upcoming films and will appear primarily because of the multiverse theme in both movies.
