Before the official announcement, the cast of ‘The Fantastic Four’ reboot was widely speculated. Recently, it was confirmed that Pedro Pascal would play Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, aka The Thing.

However, details about the villains and supporting characters were kept secret for a longer time. It was only recently disclosed that Julia Garner would portray MCU’s version of Silver Surfer, Shalla-Bal, with Ralph Ineson taking on the role of Galactus. Additionally, Paul Walter Hauser’s role remains undisclosed, and Deadline reported John Malkovich’s casting in a yet-to-be-revealed character.

We could endlessly ponder who he might portray, given the wealth of characters and villains in The Fantastic Four comics canon. Yet, considering prior rumors and leaks tied to the film, certain roles appear more plausible than others.

1. Puppet Master

It’s hard to miss the resemblance between Malkovich and the Puppet Master, making him the top contender for the role. In Marvel Comics, the Puppet Master, also known as Phillip Masters, is a villain who can control others using special clay. Masters stumbled upon this ability after accidentally exposing himself to a unique clay he found while working as a sculptor.

With this clay, he can create lifelike puppets and manipulate them to do his bidding, controlling their actions as if they were real people. Rumors strongly suggest that the Puppet Master will appear in the upcoming film.

2. Mole Man

While the resemblance isn’t striking, Mole Man was the villain most talked about in the movie. Some reports suggest he’ll be the first foe the team encounters. Mole Man is the alter ego of Harvey Rupert Elder, a villain introduced in ‘Fantastic Four’ #1 in 1961. Once a respected scientist, Elder’s odd ways and looks led to his isolation. He stumbled upon a subterranean world called Subterranea, home to all sorts of monsters.

3. Doctor Doom

It’s a bit of a reach, but there were whispers of Doctor Doom showing up towards the end of the movie, not as the main bad guy but setting the stage for future stories. Doctor Doom hardly needs an introduction, being so closely tied to the team. Who do you reckon Malkovich will take on? Share your thoughts in the comments!
