Jonathan Majors’ latest movie is already making headlines, but not because of its action scenes or comeback story. His new film, Run Hide Fight: Infidels, has become a major source of debate because of its political themes and its portrayal of Muslims. A newly released clip has pushed that controversy even further, putting Majors and the Daily Wire-backed project under even more attention.

The film is a standalone sequel to 2020’s Run Hide Fight, with Kyle Rankin returning as writer and director. This time, the story moves away from the school shooting plot of the first movie and focuses on a college campus taken over by terrorists. Majors plays Clay Saunders, a retired Delta Force officer who becomes involved when students are caught in the middle of the violent situation.

According to the film’s story, the terrorists take control of a pro-Palestine college encampment while pretending to be part of the protest movement. They then attempt to force their version of Sharia law on the campus and target people they consider to be enemies. Saunders joins a group of students and a security guard as they try to survive and fight back.

The biggest backlash so far has come from a scene featuring Majors’ character speaking to a college audience about Islam. In the clip, Saunders makes broad claims about Muslims and talks about immigration and population growth as part of what he describes as a threat to the West. The speech quickly drew criticism from Muslim advocacy groups, who argued that the movie repeats harmful stereotypes.

The Hollywood Reporter reported on the reaction from the Muslim Public Affairs Council and the Council on American-Islamic Relations. Sue Obeidi, senior vice president of MPAC’s Hollywood Bureau, strongly criticized the project, describing it as an anti-Muslim fantasy connected to Ben Shapiro and the Daily Wire. She argued that the movie relies on old and inaccurate ideas about Muslims rather than offering a more balanced picture.

Edward Ahmed Mitchell of CAIR also spoke out against the film. He described it as propaganda and questioned the message being presented to audiences. The criticism has added to concerns that the movie is not simply using controversial political ideas as part of a thriller, but is presenting them in a way that could reinforce negative views about Muslims.

The controversy is not completely new. Since the first trailer appeared, critics have accused Run Hide Fight: Infidels of linking pro-Palestinian protesters with terrorism. Others have argued that the movie brings back the kind of anti-Muslim themes that became common in Hollywood after the September 11 attacks. Those reactions have made the project one of the more politically charged movies connected to Majors’ comeback.

Majors’ involvement is also important because of where his career currently stands. The actor has been working to rebuild his career after his 2023 assault conviction. His return with Magazine Dreams earlier this year gave audiences another chance to see him in a major dramatic role, but Infidels is a very different kind of project. Instead of quietly returning to mainstream movies, Majors is now starring in a film that has attracted strong political criticism before its release.

Producer Dallas Sonnier has not appeared interested in avoiding that controversy. The project has been promoted as a provocative movie that is willing to take a strong position and present its villains in an extreme way. That approach may appeal to some viewers, but it has also made the film an easy target for critics who believe it crosses a line.

For Majors, the movie adds another complicated chapter to his return to Hollywood. Whether audiences see Run Hide Fight: Infidels as a bold political thriller or an offensive piece of propaganda will likely depend heavily on how they respond to its message.
