Marvel’s next big team-up movie, Avengers: Doomsday, is shaping up to be one of the biggest crossovers in the MCU’s history. Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, the film will bring together the Avengers, the Wakandans, the Fantastic Four, the New Avengers, and the X-Men to face Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr. It will hit theaters on December 18, 2026, as part of Phase Six.

One of the stars joining the fight is Joseph Quinn, who just made his debut as Johnny Storm, the Human Torch, in Fantastic Four: First Steps. In a recent interview with AP Entertainment, Quinn talked about the difference between filming Fantastic Four and working on Avengers: Doomsday.

He explained that Fantastic Four was a fresh start for its cast, while Doomsday throws him into scenes with long-time MCU stars and even some of the original X-Men actors from Fox’s movies.

Quinn admitted that working alongside such a legendary group has been exciting, but it nearly led him to spoil a few surprises. “It’s encouraging and reassuring to kind of know these characters. I’ve seen Thor in films. I’ve seen lots of people who maybe I can’t mention in films. And to be alongside them is very exciting. Oh… spoilers. Scary.”

Chris Hemsworth is confirmed to return as Thor, but Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has said the full cast list for Doomsday hasn’t been revealed yet. According to industry insiders, more names will be announced later because some actors hadn’t finalized their contracts when Marvel held its reveal event.

The movie features one of the largest casts in MCU history, bringing together heroes from the Avengers, Fantastic Four, Wakanda, New Avengers, and X-Men. Main returning stars include Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Letitia Wright as Black Panther, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, and Tom Hiddleston as Loki, alongside newcomers like Vanessa Kirby as Invisible Woman, Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, and Joseph Quinn as Human Torch.

The film also unites classic X-Men actors such as Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Rebecca Romijn, Alan Cumming, James Marsden, and Channing Tatum, with Robert Downey Jr. taking on the role of the villain Doctor Doom. Additional appearances from characters like Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Hawkeye, and Peggy Carter make this one of Marvel’s most ambitious ensemble projects yet.

Avengers: Doomsday began filming in April 2025 at Pinewood Studios in England, with some scenes also being shot in Bahrain.

Meanwhile, Fantastic Four: First Steps is still playing in theaters and has been well-received. On Rotten Tomatoes, it holds an 86% approval rating from critics, who praised its retro 1960s style and strong cast chemistry. CinemaScore audiences gave it an “A−,” showing fans are enjoying Marvel’s First Family on the big screen.

With Avengers: Doomsday on the horizon, Joseph Quinn’s Human Torch looks set to play a big role in the MCU’s future, just as long as he can keep those spoilers under wraps.
