Josh Brolin recently opened up about his personal experience with Donald Trump before he became president. In an interview with The Independent, Brolin explained that having known Trump as a friend gives him a different perspective on the president.

“I’m not scared of Trump, because even though he says he’s staying forever, it’s just not going to happen,” Brolin said. “And if it does, then I’ll deal with that moment. But having been a friend of Trump before he was president, I know a different guy.”

Brolin first met Trump around 2010 during the production of Oliver Stone’s film Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. Trump had been considered for a role in the movie but was eventually removed from the final cut. Brolin recalled being intrigued by Trump’s business ventures, particularly his efforts to build major developments in challenging areas during the late 1970s.

Looking at Trump’s time as president, Brolin described his approach to power as “unmitigated.” He also praised Trump’s marketing skills, saying, “There is no greater genius than him in marketing – he takes the weakness of the general population and fills it. And that’s why I think a lot of people feel that they have a mascot in him. I think it’s much less about Trump than it is about the general population and their need for validation.”

Brolin also shared that knowing Trump personally gives him confidence that the president will not pursue a third term, despite occasional claims to the contrary.
