‘Junior High School DxD’ Gets a Manga Adaptation!

A new manga adaptation based on the junior high school spinoff of the popular High School DxD light novel series has been announced! The spinoff novels, written by Rippū Shinonome, are titled Junior High School DxD and are a part of the same universe created by Ichiei Ishibumi.

The manga adaptation by Ojo will be serialized in Kadokawa’s Dragon Age magazine. However, the exact date when the manga will start has not been revealed yet.

The story for the spinoff novels is being penned by Rippū Shinonome, with illustrations by Miyama-Zero. The first novel in the series came out on May 17, 2023, and the second novel was released on November 20, 2023.

High School DxD began as a light novel series in 2008, written by Ichiei Ishibumi and illustrated by Miyama-Zero. The story follows Issei Hyoudou, a high school student who becomes a devil after being killed on his first date. It is a mix of action, comedy, and supernatural elements with a heavy dose of fanservice. The series wrapped up with its 25th volume in March 2018.

After the original High School DxD series ended, Ishibumi and Miyama-Zero continued the story with a sequel series titled Shin High School DxD, which began in July 2018. So far, Kadokawa has published four volumes of this sequel. Additionally, there is another spinoff novel series, High School DxD DX, which is a collection of side stories and currently spans seven volumes.

For English-speaking fans, Yen Press has brought several parts of the franchise to the West. They have translated the original High School DxD novels as well as the manga adaptation by Hiroji Mishima, which consists of 11 volumes. Yen Press has also translated the manga High School DxD: Asia & Koneko’s Secret Contract!? by Hiroichi.
