Actor Sam Neill, known worldwide for playing Dr. Alan Grant in the Jurassic Park series, has confirmed that he is now cancer-free after a long fight with blood cancer that lasted nearly five years.

The update came during an interview with Australian broadcaster 7News, where Neill spoke openly about his health journey. He explained that he had been living with lymphoma and had spent years going through chemotherapy to control the illness.

He said the treatment helped keep him stable for a long time, even though it was difficult to go through. At one point, however, the chemotherapy stopped working, and his condition became more serious.

Neill described a period where things looked very uncertain and he feared the worst. Later, doctors introduced a newer treatment approach that changes a patient’s own blood cells to fight cancer. After this treatment, his health improved.

He shared the moment he got his latest scan results, saying, “I’ve just had a scan just now and there is no cancer in my body, that’s an extraordinary thing.” He added, “I’m very, very excited that this can happen.”

The actor also said he is now thinking about returning to acting and wants to get back to film work. He said simply, “It’s time I did another movie.”

Along with his recovery, Neill is now speaking out in support of CAR T-cell therapy, the treatment that helped him. He hopes it can become more widely available in Australia, where it is still mostly limited to clinical trials.

Neill first made his diagnosis public in 2023. He had been diagnosed the year before while promoting Jurassic World Dominion, after noticing swollen glands. In that film, he returned to the franchise alongside Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum, as well as newer cast members Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.

At the time, he spoke honestly about his situation and future. He said, “I’m not afraid to die, but it would annoy me.” He also shared that he hoped for more time with his family and to see his grandchildren grow up.

Now, after years of treatment and uncertainty, Neill says he is focused on recovery and the next chapter of his life.

This is very positive news for fans of Sam Neill and the Jurassic Park films. A long and difficult health battle ending in recovery is always powerful to hear. It also shows how new medical treatments can change outcomes for patients in serious conditions. What do you think about his recovery and return to acting? Share your thoughts in the comments.
