Justin Baldoni, the director and star of It Ends With Us, is facing growing public scrutiny over his religious beliefs as his legal battle with actress Blake Lively intensifies.

The high-profile case, which began in December 2024, has captivated Hollywood and fans around the world. Lively has accused Baldoni of “sexual harassment” and claims his behavior during filming caused her “grief, fear, trauma, and extreme anxiety.”

Baldoni has strongly denied the allegations and has taken legal action in response. He filed a $400 million lawsuit against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and her publicist, as well as an additional $250 million lawsuit against The New York Times for their coverage of the case.

Since then, both sides have been caught in a heated legal war, fighting over allegations of smear campaigns, phone records, and private messages. The legal drama has only fueled public interest, leading fans to dissect every aspect of Baldoni’s life—including his faith.

Baldoni was raised in the Baháʼí faith, a religion that emphasizes unity, equality, and freedom from prejudice. He has spoken openly about his beliefs in past interviews, crediting his faith for giving him “a lot of insight” and providing him with “a daily source of inner happiness.”

He even has a tattoo of a quote attributed to `ʻAbdu’l-Bahá, the son of Baháʼu’lláh, the founder of the Baháʼí faith. The tattoo reads: “Where there is love, nothing is too much trouble, and there is always time.”

Reflecting on its meaning, Baldoni previously explained:

“That has really been my mantra through my career but also in my marriage and personal life while trying to figure out how to balance all my commitments. It reminds me to always be present and that I need to make space for the things and people I love. Having it tattooed on me has definitely proven to be a blessing and a curse, as I often find myself saying I don’t have time and then catching myself.”

Recently, an old lecture Baldoni gave in 2017 has resurfaced, drawing attention from both supporters and critics. In the speech, he shared a deeply personal story about being by his uncle’s side during his final moments.

“I was there when he took his last breath, and that moment changed my life,” Baldoni said. He also expressed his belief that he was “born to help people transition from this world to the next.”

While Baldoni’s faith and past words have sparked new discussions, the legal battle between him and Lively continues to unfold. With lawsuits totaling over $650 million and intense media scrutiny, the situation remains one of the biggest Hollywood controversies in recent memory.
