Justin Theroux Reveals He’s Playing a “Rich and Stupid” Role in ‘Devil Wears Prada 2’
Justin Theroux has finished filming The Devil Wears Prada 2, describing his character as “forward-leaning, rich and stupid” and calling the role “a blast” to play.
The actor shared that he enjoyed reuniting with Emily Blunt and especially praised working alongside Meryl Streep. “I’ve obviously watched her my entire life, so to all of a sudden, be performing with her is such a pleasure and an honor,” he said.
The sequel, directed by David Frankel and written by Aline Brosh McKenna, is based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2013 novel Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns.
It continues the story of the 2006 hit film, bringing back familiar faces including Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly, Anne Hathaway as Andrea “Andy” Sachs, Emily Blunt as Emily Charlton, Stanley Tucci as Nigel Kipling, Tracie Thoms as Lily, and Tibor Feldman as Irv Ravitz.
The film also introduces several new cast members. Kenneth Branagh joins as Miranda’s husband, while Simone Ashley, Lucy Liu, B.J. Novak, Pauline Chalamet, Rachel Bloom, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, Conrad Ricamora, Sydney Sweeney, Donatella Versace, and Lady Gaga are set to appear in various roles.
Filming began on June 30, and took place in New York City and Milan, Italy, with several notable scenes shot at Newark Airport and Milan Fashion Week. By mid-October, most of the principal photography was completed, with additional cast members finishing their scenes later that month.
Theroux’s playful and comedic character promises to add humor to the high-fashion world fans know from the original film. He highlighted that the entire cast and crew were aware of the iconic nature of the project.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is scheduled to be released in the United States on May 1, 2026, and audiences are eager to see both returning favorites and new faces.
