The final arc of the Kaiju No. 8 anime has officially been confirmed, along with a brand-new Gen Narumi short, during the Jump Festa 2026 event.

Fans were treated to a teaser visual and announcement trailer, giving a first look at what’s coming next. Studio Production I.G is returning to handle the animation, while Studio Khara is once again responsible for the creature designs. So far, the anime has released 23 episodes between April 13, 2024, and September 27, 2025.

The Kaiju No. 8 manga, created by Naoya Matsumoto, first began in July 2020 on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ platform. The series concluded this July with Chapter 129 and has been compiled into 16 volumes.

Viz Media publishes the series in English. According to Viz, the story follows Kafka, who dreams of keeping a childhood pact with Mina to join the Japan Defense Force and fight alongside her. While Mina is out neutralizing kaiju as a Third Division captain, Kafka is stuck cleaning up after her battles. A sudden rule change allows him to try for the Defense Force, but there’s a catch, he’s already listed as a kaiju under the code name Kaiju No. 8.
