Kate Hudson. 46. Explains Why She Doesn’t Chase Men Who Aren’t Committed
Kate Hudson has made it clear that she has no interest in dragging out the end of a relationship. During an appearance on The Howard Stern Show on Tuesday, February 24, the 46-year-old actress discussed her “no-nonsense” approach to handling heartbreak.
When asked by Stern if she had ever been the one left behind, Hudson admitted that while she certainly has, her reaction is rarely what people expect. The Academy Award nominee explained that her philosophy has always been to walk away the moment interest fades from the other side.
If a guy says they don’t want it, they’re not into it — I’m out, she told the host. She emphasized that she isn’t the type of person to demand long, drawn-out explanations or deep emotional post-mortems once a partner has decided to end things.
Hudson recalled a specific instance where a former boyfriend was caught off guard by her immediate acceptance of their breakup. After he told her he couldn’t continue the relationship, she simply replied with a calm Okay.
When he pushed for a deeper conversation about the split, she remained firm in her lack of interest. Now you want to connect with me about us not being together? No. We’re done connecting, she recalled saying at the time.
The conversation eventually shifted to her iconic breakout role in Almost Famous, which recently reached its 25th anniversary. Stern brought up an old interview where Hudson admitted she hoped every man who had ever rejected her would see her face plastered across Times Square on the film’s poster.
Hudson laughed at the memory, noting that she actually did have a conversation with one specific ex-boyfriend about it years later, once they both had married and had children. As of this year, Hudson is experiencing a major professional renaissance, largely driven by her acclaimed performance in the musical drama Song Sung Blue.
The film, which tells the true story of a Milwaukee couple who formed a Neil Diamond tribute band, has catapulted her back into the awards conversation. She is currently a frontrunner for the Best Actress trophy at the upcoming 98th Academy Awards, scheduled for March 15.
Beyond the Oscars, Hudson is also nominated at the Actor Awards taking place this Sunday, March 1. This awards season run follows her successful transition into the music industry with her debut album Glorious, which she continues to promote alongside her acting work.
Her schedule for the remainder of the year includes a lead role in Running Point, a comedy series for Mindy Kaling, where she plays a woman who unexpectedly becomes the president of a professional basketball team.
In her personal life, Hudson remains happily engaged to musician Danny Fujikawa, with whom she shares her seven-year-old daughter, Rani Rose. The couple has been together since 2017, though their history as friends spans over a decade.
Hudson also continues to co-parent her two sons, 22-year-old NYU student Ryder and 14-year-old Bingham, with her former partners Chris Robinson and Matt Bellamy. While fans are eager to see if she will take home the gold this March.
