Kate Hudson consistently showcases exceptional style both on and off the red carpet, and her appearance at the Oscars was no exception. The actress managed to capture the spotlight twice during the evening, transitioning between two vastly different but equally breathtaking gowns.

She first arrived at the 98th Academy Awards in a teal mosaic peplum gown from Giorgio Armani Privé, which she paired with an extraordinary collection of diamonds valued at $35 million.

Later in the evening, Hudson arrived at the Vanity Fair after-party in a look that favored high-octane glamour over the classic elegance of her first dress. She chose a shimmering black Gucci gown featuring a plunging neckline and a bold cutout across the midriff that flowed into a dramatic train.

To complete the ensemble, she wore diamond drop earrings and a 15-carat green diamond ring from Garatti, keeping her makeup glowing with shimmery eyeshadow and a soft pink lip.

For the after-party, Hudson was accompanied by a very special guest: her 22-year-old son, Ryder Robinson. The eldest of her three children looked sharp in a classic black tuxedo, though he opted for a modern ivory ribbon instead of a traditional necktie.

Hudson, who is also a mother to son Bingham and daughter Rani Rose, clearly enjoyed the opportunity to share the high-profile night with her family. Earlier that evening, Hudson had another sentimental moment when she walked the main Oscars red carpet with her mother, Goldie Hawn.

Hawn, who won her own Oscar in 1970 for Cactus Flower, looked elegant in a semi-sheer black gown embellished with silver lace details. In an interview before the event, Hudson expressed how meaningful it was to have her mother by her side.

I’m excited just to be doing this again. It’s really cool, she noted. Hopefully, my mom will be my date, and we can have fun. It’ll be great. Hudson attended the ceremony as a nominee for Best Actress for her performance in the musical drama Song Sung Blue.

This nomination arrived exactly 25 years after her first Academy Award nod for her breakout role as Penny Lane in the 2000 film Almost Famous. While the trophy ultimately went to Jessie Buckley for Hamnet, Hudson’s performance as Claire Sardina has been widely regarded as a significant career comeback and a testament to her range as both a singer and an actress.

Outside of the awards circuit, Hudson has been keeping a very busy schedule this year. She is currently starring in the Netflix comedy series Running Point, where she plays the head of a professional basketball team.

She also recently completed filming for a new project titled Hello & Paris, a romantic drama that sees her starring alongside Javier Bardem. The actress has been vocal about her “work ethic” this year, emphasizing that staying focused on what she loves has led her back to these prestigious stages.

The film Song Sung Blue itself has been a major hit on streaming platforms like Peacock following its theatrical run. Co-starring Hugh Jackman, the movie tells the true story of a Milwaukee couple who formed a Neil Diamond tribute band called Lightning & Thunder.

The production was praised for its authentic portrayal of the couple’s resilience, particularly focusing on the real-life challenges Claire Sardina faced following a traumatic accident.

As she moves forward into the rest of the year, Hudson continues to balance her thriving acting career with her popular podcast, Sibling Revelry. Her recent honors, including the Motion Picture Showperson of the Year award, suggest that she is currently at a professional peak.
