Kate Hudson Is Back and Breaking All the Rules in ‘Running Point’ Season 2 – Watch the Trailer Now
Kate Hudson is back as Isla Gordon in the new trailer for Running Point Season 2, and the underdog Los Angeles Waves are ready to fight for the championship. The trailer shows Isla full of determination, proving that last season’s Game 7 loss was just a fluke. Season 2 of the sports comedy hits Netflix on April 23, according to Tudum.
Running Point, created by Mindy Kaling (Never Have I Ever) and inspired by Los Angeles Lakers executive Jeanie Buss, first introduced viewers to Isla, a reformed party girl who rises to lead her family’s basketball empire. In Season 2, she faces new challenges as she tries to keep the LA Waves on top.
The trailer reveals that Isla’s wayward brother Cam (Justin Theroux) returns from rehab early, claiming he’s a changed man. He was originally handpicked by the family as Isla’s predecessor, but his true intentions remain unclear. While Cam spends his time reading Taylor Jenkins Reid’s The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo at his desk, the trailer hints that he might not be as reformed as he says.
She’s got a whole new game plan.

Isla also leans on her best friend and LA Waves chief of staff Ali (Brenda Song), but Ali appears to have bigger plans of her own. The team’s star players, MVP Marcus Winfield (Toby Sandeman) and point guard Travis Bugg (Chet Hanks), are back in action, with plenty of humor and one-liners coming from the cast. Hanks told Tudum, “Everybody stands on their own within each one of their characters, and the way we all interact with each other just feels so natural.”
The trailer also teases romantic drama. After Isla called off her engagement to Lev (Max Greenfield) last season, she shares a kiss with head coach Jay Brown (Jay Ellis). Both men seem to be back in play for Isla’s heart, leaving the ultimate choice up to her.
Season 2 brings several new faces, including Ray Romano as the LA Waves’ new head coach. Other guest stars include Lisa Rinna, Ken Marino, Nicole Richie, Octavia Spencer, Scott Speedman, and Ike Barinholtz, who also serves as a writer and executive producer. Kaling, David Stassen, Jeanie Buss, Linda Rambis, Hudson, and Howard Klein return as producers, with Stassen as showrunner.
Running Point Season 2 promises more drama, laughs, and basketball action as Isla and the Waves go all in for the win.
This season looks even bigger and funnier than the first. The mix of family chaos, on-court action, and romantic twists makes it a must-watch for sports comedy fans. What do you think Isla should do about her love triangle? Share your thoughts in the comments.
