Kathryn Newton Confirms Return as Cassie Lang in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
Kathryn Newton is officially back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, confirming that she will reprise her role as Cassie Lang in Avengers: Doomsday. The actress shared the news herself through Instagram, where she posted a playful reveal that quickly drew attention from fans.
In her post, Newton showed a director’s chair with her character’s name and the film’s logo, a familiar style Marvel often uses when announcing cast returns. The announcement confirmed her return after last being seen in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, where she played Scott Lang’s daughter.
She also added a light joke while revealing the chair, saying, “It’s tiny because Cassie Lang gets tiny.” The comment points to her character’s connection to her father, Scott Lang, played by Paul Rudd, who also has shrinking abilities.
Cassie’s return was already hinted at before the announcement. Footage shown at CinemaCon reportedly included a moment between Scott Lang and Cassie, suggesting their relationship will continue in the next major Avengers story.
Avengers: Doomsday is expected to bring together a very large group of Marvel characters. Alongside Cassie Lang and Ant-Man, the film includes returning heroes such as Captain America, Thor, Black Panther, Shang-Chi, Professor X, Magneto, and Gambit. The project is being directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, who previously worked on Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
Newton has continued building her career outside Marvel as well, appearing in films like Lisa Frankenstein, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, and Griffin in Summer. She is the third actress to play Cassie Lang in the MCU, following Abby Ryder Fortson in the earlier Ant-Man films and Emma Fuhrmann in Avengers: Endgame.
The confirmation of her return keeps Cassie Lang firmly part of Marvel’s ongoing story as the franchise moves into its next big crossover event.
It will be interesting to see how Cassie’s role develops in such a crowded lineup of characters. Do you think she will play a bigger part in Avengers: Doomsday or stay more in the background? Share your thoughts in the comments.
