The Hilarious Reason Dafne Keen Had to Tell Channing Tatum to Stop Talking on the ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Set: “… This Guy Was Just Yapping Right in Front of Me”
‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is poised to be Disney’s biggest hit this summer, with remarkable commercial and critical success. A significant factor in this success is the film’s inclusion of numerous legacy characters alongside new additions to the MCU.
Fans were thrilled to see Dafne Keen return as X-23, Snipes as Blade, Garner as Elektra, and Evans as Human Torch. Additionally, the film fulfilled Channing Tatum’s long-standing desire to play Gambit, a role he had coveted for nearly a decade.
Keen recently spoke with Phase Zero and shared insights about her character. She confirmed that she reprises the same role from ‘Logan,’ released in 2017, and clarified that she is not a variant. Keen expressed her excitement about returning to the superhero movie set and mentioned she would be eager to reprise her role if given the opportunity.
She also humorously revealed her frustration with Channing Tatum on set, noting that the actor “kept yapping.” When asked about a particular line from the movie where Tatum’s Gambit says, “wooimbouttamakeanameformyselfere!” Keen admitted that Gambit’s dialogue posed a challenge for her during filming.
Brandon, I had to tell him that on my shot, he couldn’t say his lines. […] I kept breaking character. Beacuse I’d be doing like brooding Wolverine vibe, I was like, “yeah, let’s fu**** go” and then he’d be like: “Yeah, he was layin’ them buttery nuts all up in my mama.” Like, “no, shut up, I’m trying to do my job over here, you’re making it so hard.” […] Even the like, formation, when he’s like “I’m about to make a name for myself,” I was like “no.” I was cool and calm and collected and this guy is just like, yapping, in my ear.
If you haven’t seen the movie yet, what everyone is talking about is Tatum’s Cajun accent, a hallmark of Gambit’s character. Fans have mixed opinions: some praise the accent as brilliant, while others find it cringy.
Regardless, Tatum and Keen seem to have great on-set chemistry, and we’d love to see them team up again in the MCU!
