Kerry Washington (49) Brings Minimalist Glamour to Ben Affleck’s ‘Animals’ Premiere
Netflix’s fall slate is packed with big names, but few projects carry as much star power as ‘Animals’. The political thriller marks a major new collaboration between Ben Affleck and Kerry Washington, who play husband and wife on screen. Ahead of its release, Kerry Washington’s ‘Animals’ premiere look has quickly become one of the most talked-about moments from the film’s big night.
The movie has an intriguing setup. Affleck plays Mark Kimball, a Los Angeles mayoral candidate, with Washington as his wife, Abigail, and the couple’s lives are thrown into chaos when their son is kidnapped. As they scramble to raise the ransom, they’re forced to make choices and reveal secrets that could tear their world apart.
The cast celebrated at the film’s world premiere in Los Angeles on Thursday, October 1, and Washington arrived ready to make an impression. Variety shared a photo of the actress on the red carpet, where she wore a white one-shoulder gown that stood out against the dark city-lights backdrop.
The design blended simplicity with sharp architectural details. A sculptural, cape-like panel draped over one shoulder, while a cutout at the waist added a modern edge to the floor-length column silhouette. Washington finished the look with a striped clutch, pointed white shoes, and her hair pulled back into a sleek updo.
The outfit’s clean lines let her presence do the talking. Photos from the night also show her posing alongside Affleck, as well as with fellow cast members during a group moment on the carpet.

Washington was in great company. Affleck, who wrote, directed, and stars in the film, was joined by co-stars Steven Yeun, Luis Gerardo Méndez, Adriana Paz, and Ray Fisher. Gillian Anderson, who also appears in the movie, did not attend.
Matt Damon also turned up to support his longtime friend, joined by his wife, Luciana Damon. Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos was spotted taking a selfie with the cast, while composer Harry Gregson-Williams and French Montana were also among the guests.

Damon’s involvement in the project runs deeper than a red carpet appearance. He was originally set to star in the lead role, but had to step away due to scheduling conflicts with ‘The Odyssey’. Affleck then took on the part himself, while Damon remained a producer.

The film was co-written by Connor McIntyre, Billy Ray, and Affleck, and is produced in partnership with Artists Equity, the studio founded by Affleck, Damon, and Gerry Cardinale of RedBird Capital. Christopher Woodley plays the couple’s kidnapped son, Denny.
Affleck has described the movie as much more than a straightforward thriller. Speaking to Netflix’s Tudum, he explained that the story explores whether people have a real moral compass or simply act in their own best interests, adding that at its heart, the film is really about marriage.

Audiences won’t have to wait long to see Washington and Affleck in action. ‘Animals’ arrives in select theaters and on Netflix on Friday, October 9. Netflix has positioned the film as a slow-burn, suspenseful political drama, and with this cast, expectations are high. If the premiere is any indication, the project has already generated plenty of buzz heading into its release.
