Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studios, recently shared some updates about the future of two fan-favorite characters: Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. Both actors returned to their iconic roles in the 2024 movie Deadpool & Wolverine, but they have been playing these characters for much longer on the big screen.

During a recent media round-table, Feige revealed that he has been in talks with both Reynolds and Jackman about what lies ahead for their characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “There have absolutely been discussions. We’re in touch with Ryan a lot,” Feige said.

When asked directly if these characters will appear again, he gave a simple but clear answer: “So the answer is yes.”

When reporters asked about Hugh Jackman’s plans, Feige kept things lighthearted and quoted one of Deadpool’s famous lines from their latest movie, jokingly saying, “He’s doing it until he’s 90, man.” This playful response didn’t give away any concrete details but did suggest that Jackman is not stepping away from Wolverine anytime soon.

Right now, Marvel Studios hasn’t announced exactly which upcoming movies or shows will feature Reynolds and Jackman. However, there are reports that Ryan Reynolds is working on a script for an X-Men team-up project.

This project is said to be connected to the X-Men universe but isn’t expected to be a traditional X-Men movie within the MCU.

Both actors have long histories with their characters. Hugh Jackman first played Wolverine (also known as James “Logan” Howlett) in the 2000 X-Men film produced by 20th Century Fox. Over the years, he returned to the role in several sequels and spin-offs, winning praise from fans and critics alike.

Ryan Reynolds’ journey with Deadpool began with a less popular portrayal of Wade Wilson in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), which didn’t impress audiences. Reynolds spent years fighting to make a proper Deadpool movie, and his efforts paid off when Deadpool came out in 2016 to huge success. This was followed by Deadpool 2 in 2018 and, most recently, Deadpool & Wolverine in 2024.

Feige’s comments offer hope that both characters will continue to play important roles in the MCU’s future, though fans will have to wait to learn exactly when and where they will appear next.
